January 12th and 13th, Jordan and I took a road trip to Cedar Rapids & Iowa City, IA to see one of Jordan's favorite authors, Michael Pollan speak about his new book, "In Defense of Food".
Saturday we stayed in Cedar Rapids, went to the Museum of Art, watched the Packers game and then ate at Biaggi's (Italian Restaurant)!
After a delicious breakfast of oatmeal, we headed down to Iowa City, home of the Quaker Oats factory! Before the event, we found a used CD store similar to the former Face the Music like in Rochester. Prairie Lights bookstore is where we purchased Michael Pollan's new book and then we headed over to the Iowa City Public Library. It was extremely crowded, and many people were turned away...but luckily we managed to claim a spot where we could see and hear him in the back of the room.
Highlights of the speaking events (according to Jordan):
- -Being able to meet Michael Pollan and have him sign our new book.
- -Hearing him explain why he thinks what he does.
- -Spending time together!
