HIGHLIGHTS AND EVENTS!!
*Going roller skating at the Rohler Rink in Brownsville, MN. Brownsville is located about 10 miles past Austin. It's a very small town and the Rohler Rink is supposed to be the largest indoor roller skating rink in the Midwest! We got our skates and sat down and put them on. There was lots of lacing and tightening to do. What an experience it was walking with wheels! It took a while to get used to. I had been roller skating a few times prior with SACC but Jordan hadn't been a to a roller rink before. As soon as we got onto the floor, it was very slippery. It took us a while to get the hang of it. We held hands to give us more support (or so we thought!) And after a few falls, we decided that we were able to skate better without having to worry about the other one by holding hands. The more we were out on the floor, the more confident we got. When we first arrived, there wasn't very many people there but slowly it started to fill up with families and high school students on roller blades! Half way through we bought a Propel drink and sat down to rest. The rest of the people there did the limbo- it was fun to watch others but we decided not to participate. After our short break, we were ready to hit the floor again! I started practicing going around corners faster and started to get the idea of turning corners rather than slowing down to the point of not moving to get around the corner to picking up speed around the corners. We spent about 2 hours there and both agreed that it'd be fun to come back sometime!!
*Going to Pepin, Wisconsin to visit Jordan's family trailer! We ate at the Pickle Factory, walked around the marina near Lake Pepin, worked on the trailer and ate ice cream! To celebrate my birthday, Jordan treated me to the Pickle Factory where we had deep fried pickles as an appetizer and burned our mouths from the hot grease! After lunch, we walked down by the lake and spent a good 2 hours just sitting and enjoying each others company! After suntanning, we went back to the trailer to help remove nails and the bottom trim from the trailer sides. We finished the wonderful day with eating mint chocolate chip ice cream! (also celebrated our seventh month anniversary on 4.17.08 crazy!)
*Sunday, April 27--note to others and ourselves, check out the dates facilities and shops are open before you drive two hours and find they are not open! We decided to start ring shopping at a local place in Roseville, MN (Arthur's Jewlers) a recommendation from a good friend. However, upon arriving to our destination point it was closed all day Sunday! But then we got to shop at Music Go Round, a pet store, Linders and celebrate my Grandpa's birthday!! So it turned out to be a great day even though it was disappointing to see it was closed...we'll be back up in the cities very soon!! It is crazy to start thinking about rings, engagement, weddings and the future! We're both excited to plan for and talk about our future together!!
*Wednesday, April 30 -- Jordan and I went to a Wilco concert at the Rochester Civic Center Auditorium. The newspaper (article here) said about 2,500 people attended the concert. We were seated in the balcony and wasn't too impressed with the opening band. Wilco rocked out the house with an hour and a half concert with two encores! Some of the songs we recognized and a few of the songs we were deafened by the loud music! We both got to bed around midnight and it was difficult because it was a school/work night. However, we had a lot fun going to this concert together--second concert together! The first concert we went to together was Big Bad Voodoo Daddy! Hopefully we'll be able to find another concert to go to soon!!
